MLA Landscape Architecture Orinda home landscaping

This large historic property from 1938 was built in the style of a chalet in the Alps. The house and guest cottage were remodeled in 2006 with a special focus on keeping with the historical style, and it was important that the gardens were updated with the same care and attention to detail. Some of the stonework in this historic garden was existing, and the new stonework was added to match as closely as possible, using similar materials to create additional spaces that seamlessly integrated with the existing spaces. The result is a garden that looks like it’s been there as long as the house itself, with updated modern amenities such as a natural spa adjacent to the “weeping stone wall”.
